Mary Brewer, a 1967 WHS graduate, was the lucky winner an original Harbor table. Lola Viets, WHS librarian from 1954-1996, drew Mary’s winning ticket. The pedestal table has spent it last years in the WHS library but once graced the original Harbor in the old WHS building on East Ninth avenue. The donations given for a chance to win the table raised nearly $1,000 for new library books. Thanks to all who participated!

High School Library Sponsors Fundraiser to Buy Books with Auction of Vintage Table from the Old WHS Harbor
Would you like to own a piece of the old Winfield High School Harbor? A 1954 pedestal table that was used in the old Harbor has been living in the WHS library for 36 years and is ready to move…maybe to your house.
Your $25 donation will purchase a new book for the library and put your name in a drawing for the Harbor table. A donation of $100 will purchase four library books and put your name in the drawing five times. The drawing will be held April 30.
Click here for a copy of the form to fill out with your donation. (The form shows a picture of the table.) Return the completed form along with your donation to: Winfield High School Library, Attention: Judy Agnew, Winfield High School, 300 Viking Boulevard, Winfield, KS 67156. Checks should be made payable to Winfield High School Library.
Contact Judy Agnew or Sheryl Pilkington at 620-221-5100 for more information.

With the new school year starting, the USD 465 Foundation wants to help continue the rich musical history of our community. You may have an instrument hiding in your attic. Donating it to the foundation would mean the opportunity for one of our students to learn to play. Help continue Winfield’s great musical tradition.
Read about our Attic Instrument Project on the Foundation’s Project page.

A memorial has been established at USD 465 Foundation to honor Norman Callison.
Winfield lost a true friend of education when Norman died on August 5, 2009. He was a strong force in our community in many areas, but education was his passion. He was an instructor first at Southwestern College. Then for 22 years, he was an extraordinary English, Drama, and Humanities teacher at Winfield High School. (See his full obituary from the Courier.)
To make a gift in Norman’s memory please visit our “Make a Gift” page.
